Among these alternatives, wastewater has unexpectedly emerged as a potential reservoir of said energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An innovative project, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/energirccu.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00c9nergir Urban Heating and Cooling (UHC)<\/a>, currently focuses on the energy potential of Montreal\u2019s sanitary sewer network in order to assess the feasibility of recovering heat from this unsuspected resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img data-dominant-color=\"7f7c77\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/avizo.gaelbouffard.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG_3420-1-1-1024x768.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30051 not-transparent\" style=\"--dominant-color: #7f7c77; width:620px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.avizo.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG_3420-1-1-1024x768.webp 1024w, https:\/\/www.avizo.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG_3420-1-1-300x225.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.avizo.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG_3420-1-1-768x576.webp 768w, https:\/\/www.avizo.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG_3420-1-1-1536x1152.webp 1536w, https:\/\/www.avizo.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/IMG_3420-1-1-2048x1536.webp 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Project in Downtown Montreal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Avizo is at the heart of this project, offering its precise wastewater flow measurement and temperature monitoring services in the Nazareth\/Robert-Bourassa sanitary collector. \u00c9nergir CCU has mandated the experts of Avizo to carry out the crucial task of data collection. This twelve-month mandate involves the implementation of a system of measurement which allows to collect data on water flow and temperature continuously and in real-time. Because of the limited access to the measuring point, in reason of its highly occupied location on Robert-Bourassa Boulevard in downtown Montreal, Avizo has developed a remote acquisition system. This innovation reduces the risks associated with the mobilization of our technical staff on public roads. Furthermore, this device, which is installed for the entire duration of the mandate, will allow \u00c9nergir UHC to save a considerable amount of money in mobilization, considering that remote downloads enable daily data analysis and targeting of technical intervention needs. Data collected by Avizo will permit engineers, working in partnership with \u00c9nergir UHC, to validate their initial hypothesis. While we cannot conclude on the outcome of this study at this time, it is conceivable that the energy recovered from the heat of wastewater could offer both environmental and economic benefits. On the one hand, it would reduce our dependence on traditional energy sources, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
