Portland District: At the Heart of Urban Action

The Portland District is a strategic commercial hub serving users of the Sherbrooke Regional Industrial Park and the industrial zone of the St-Élie borough in Sherbrooke.
Located at the intersection of Industriel, Portland, and René-Lévesque boulevards, it serves as a true gateway to rapidly growing residential and commercial sectors.

Avizo’s teams were responsible for the design and technical support of all civil engineering work related to water management infrastructure, roadways, and site development across all phases of this local service center.

Avizo was mandated to design the plans and specifications for the development of the parking lot, as well as stormwater management and drainage works for the Portland District commercial development located on Portland Boulevard in Sherbrooke. This commercial building project was developed in four phases.

Avizo’s team carried out:

• The design and progressive implementation from 2017 to 2024, enhancing a key commercial connection with the redevelopment of Route 220 and René-Lévesque Boulevard;

• Site planning tailored to the purpose of the various commercial buildings, maximizing land use and offering a wide range of local services: restaurants, offices, medical clinic, gas station, car wash, etc.;

• Outdoor developments designed to create a pleasant living environment that serves the community;

• Layouts promoting access for pedestrians, bike paths, and bus stops to encourage sustainable mobility;

• The design of integrated underground and surface stormwater retention systems, minimizing unused space while achieving optimal treatment and retention levels.
