Avizo Experts-Conseils’ health and wellness program recognized by the Groupe entreprises en santé

The health and wellness program implemented by Avizo Experts-Conseils has received level 1 recognition from the Groupe entreprises en santé.

Staff health and wellness are a priority

Avizo Experts-Conseils’ health and wellness program allows the firm, which specializes in environmental consulting, engineering and construction, to have a real impact on individual and organizational health.

“Several initiatives were already in place, including the shared garden, the DEK hockey team and our 5 à 7 after-work gatherings. The Healthy Enterprise recognition helps us understand the impact of our health and wellness initiatives and keep improving,” says Émeline Pillon, health and wellness program lead at Avizo Experts-Conseils.

Health and wellness initiatives are popular at Avizo Experts-Conseils

For years, a DEK hockey team made up of several Avizo Experts-Conseils employees has been playing in a recreational league. In addition to improving participants’ health, this sport strengthens team cohesion.

In fall 2019, the Nutrition and Fitness Challenge gave some thirty employees access to a nutrition specialist and a personal trainer. In addition to covering the registration fees, Avizo Experts-Conseils gave participants gift cards and rewards to motivate them to complete the challenge.

In spring 2020, Avizo Experts-Conseils’ management launched the idea of a shared garden at the Sherbrooke office. The vegetable garden was designed, built, maintained and harvested by a dozen enthusiastic employees between May and October 2020. Those involved learned the basics of vegetable gardening and enjoyed time together as a team outside their usual work setting. The company paid for the installations, and staff contributed to the purchase of plants and seeds.

With the support of Miellerie de l’Estrie, selected employees had the opportunity to care for Avizo Experts-Conseils’ two honeybee hives. Every staff member received a small jar of honey produced by our amateur beekeepers.

Active transportation is encouraged by bike paths, bike racks, locker rooms and showers at almost all of Avizo Experts-Conseils’ Quebec offices.

In 2019, Avizo Experts-Conseils’ head office in Sherbrooke was renovated to provide all staff with a functional and comfortable work environment. It includes a staff lounge and a fully equipped cafeteria. The Catherine-Lussier lounge, named in honour of a former employee who passed away in 2018, is the go-to place to meet colleagues, for example during a 5 à 7 after-work gathering.

Several exercise machines have been added to the gym at the Sherbrooke office. Staff assigned to an office without this type of equipment receive a $50 contribution toward a gym membership or the purchase of exercise equipment.

Thanks to the commitment of management and the involvement of staff and the health program lead, the health and wellness program is sure to remain a key factor in improving the work environment at Avizo Experts-Conseils.
