Environmental site assessment

In order to verify the potential presence of contaminants in soil and water, Avizo carries out all phases inherent to environmental characterization and site rehabilitation for all types of projects. These evaluations are carried out based on the principles and guidelines set out by Canadian standards and by the guides of the ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP). Our staff is trained and qualified to carry out these studies in accordance with these standards and recognized by various financial institutions. We also produce reports and documents necessary to meet the requirements of Section IV of the Loi sur la qualité de l’environnement (LQE).

Environmental Site Assessment, Phase I

The ESA, phase I is often required by banking institutions during commercial and industrial financial or real estate transactions. It makes it possible to establish the presence of potential and/or real indications of contamination of a site.

ESA, phase II and environmental site characterization

The ESA, phase II, following the conclusions and recommendations issued during an ESA, phase I, as well as the environmental site characterization aim to verify the environmental quality in places identified as being at risk. Sondage (drilling, exploratory trench, manual sondage) are carried out following a plan previously developed with the aim of taking soil samples to be submitted to an analytical program established according to the suspected contaminants. If a risk to the environmental quality of groundwater is noted, certain sondages can be converted into observation wells in order to characterize them.

ESA, phase III: Comprehensive complementary environmental characterization

The ESA, Phase III follows the analytical results obtained as part of the ESA, Phase II. In order to horizontally identify an updated contamination on a site and in order to more precisely evaluate the volumes of affected soils, this additional characterization is carried out in the contaminated sector. The additional analytical results obtained then make it possible to assess the extent of the work to be carried out as well as the costs associated with the rehabilitation of the site.
